'In Almere is alles nieuw; daar is geen replica uit de Gouden Eeuw te vinden. Het heeft zijn korte geschiedenis, die meer is dan charme, en wie er goed kijkt zal het geen moeite kosten te zien dat de nieuwe stad en het nieuwe land ook mooi zijn, weergaloos.'

'Everything in Almere is new; there are no replica's from the Golden Age to be found here. It has a short history which is more than charm , and for those who observe carefully it will not be difficult to see that the new town and new land have an unparalleled beauty of their own.'

Skywatch Friday

A few weeks ago I was in Portugal and saw many storks.
The sky was clear blue, I took this picture in the Algarve.
The storks are safe,  high by the cross!
See for more skywatches here

Boekenweek (Book Week)
16 - 24 maart

In the Netherlands the Boekenweek is an annual ‘week’ dedicates to the
Dutch literature. It is held in March since 1932.
Each Boekenweek has a theme.
The beginning of the Boekenweek is marked by the Boekenbal (Book ball),
a gathering that is attended by writers and publishers.
Events are held across the country during this week,
such as book signing sessions, literary festivals and debates.

When you buy a book of 12,50 Euro you receive a
Boekenweekgeschenk (Book week gift).
We have all this books from 1932. There is an exhibition of
all our books and related publications in the New Library of Almere.
Sunday is in Almere a book festival with writers.
To-morrow I make the pictures of the
Exhibition and will show you.

This year is the theme: Golden times, black pages.
The writer of the gift this year is Kees van Kooten:
de Verrekijker (The Telescope)
This weekend more.
